Louis Napoleon, the Prince Imperial of France, was killed by a Zulu patrol on 1 June 1879 while serving with the British. A monument now marks the spot in the hills beside the Itshotshozi River. Fugitives' Drift arranges guided visits on request, usually combined with Blood River, subject to guide availability.
