Overview

About Mumbo Island Camp

Mumbo Island Camp occupies a sheltered cove in Lake Malawi National Park, reached by boat from Cape Maclear. Five Island Chalets overlook the water, while a four-bed Forest Chalet sits behind the beach without a lake view. En-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets and portable solar lamps keep the accommodation simple. The standard stay is self-catering, with a shared kitchen that staff clean; full catering or a chef can be booked separately. Spend time snorkelling among cichlids, kayaking around the island or following woodland trails, then settle into the shared lounge beside a baobab tree.

“A small island escape for travellers who prefer lake adventures and simple, off-grid comfort to resort facilities. Self-catering keeps the stay flexible, with a chef or full catering available separately.”
