Overview
About Flame Tree Cottages
Flame Tree Cottages is a family-run hotel on the beachfront at Nungwi, on Zanzibar’s north-west coast. Its cottages sit in tropical gardens around a swimming pool, with the beach reached through the garden gate. Rooms have air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms and verandas, where breakfast is served each morning. Swahili wooden furniture and Zanzibari beds give the rooms a local character. Options include interconnecting family accommodation and an upstairs honeymoon suite. The beachfront restaurant serves Swahili and European dishes, including vegetarian and vegan choices. Most staff come from Nungwi, and local labour was used to build the hotel.
“Veranda breakfasts, a garden pool and the beach through the gate make this family-run hotel a good fit for independent beach stays, honeymooners and yoga groups.”
