Overview

About Wilderness Sabyinyo

Wilderness Sabyinyo sits among gardens at the edge of Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park, with the Virunga volcanoes rising beyond the lodge. Six stone cottages, two suites and a two-bedroom family cottage provide sitting areas and fireplaces for evenings after a trek. Mountain gorillas are the main draw, with golden monkeys, guided birdwatching and community walks adding variety. The lodge is owned by the SACOLA community trust and operated by Wilderness. Meals, local drinks, laundry and lodge-based activities are included; gorilla trekking permits, park fees and the conservation levy are separate.

“A good fit for couples and birders who want a comfortable gorilla-trekking base with fireplaces, garden walks and a direct connection to the surrounding community.”
