Overview
Big Cave Camp sits among granite boulders on a ridge overlooking Matobo National Park. Its thatched chalets have en-suite bathrooms and private decks, with double or twin rooms, a bunk-bed family room and two honeymoon suites. In the main lodge, the lounge and communal dining area are built around the rocks. A natural rock pool, library and firelit boma provide places to unwind. The setting suits travellers drawn to rhino country and birdlife, as well as couples wanting a room above the valley. Guests leave their vehicles at the parking area and travel up to the lodge by 4x4.
“The granite setting gives Big Cave Camp its character, from private chalet decks to the boulder-built lounge. It suits birders, couples and families looking for a base beside Matobo National Park.”
Known for
Granite landscapes, black and white rhino in nearby Whovi Game Park, and the birdlife of the Matobo Hills define a stay here.
