Overview

About Wilderness Bisate Lodge

Six forest villas sit on a wooded hillside beside Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, with views towards the Virunga volcanoes. Their curved forms draw on Rwandan royal architecture, while fireplaces, en-suite bathrooms and private decks make a comfortable base between treks. Mountain gorillas are the main draw, with golden monkey trekking, birdwatching and visits to neighbouring communities adding variety. Back at the lodge, there is a wine cellar, library and the Sanctuary spa, gym and lap pool. Guests can also plant an indigenous tree in the reforestation programme. Meals, local drinks and lodge-based activities are included; trekking permits cost extra.

“A strong choice for primate enthusiasts who want a small forest lodge with fireplaces, volcano views and a spa to return to after a trek.”
