Overview
Okahirongo Elephant Lodge sits above the Hoarusib Riverbed in the Puros Conservancy, surrounded by Kaokoland’s rocky hills and open desert. Seven suites and a two-bedroom Family Villa keep the lodge small, with shaded private terraces and an infinity pool for time between excursions. Scenic drives explore the clay castles and dunes, while Himba village visits and guided e-bike rides offer different ways to experience the area. Meals, drinks, twice-daily activities, laundry and local airstrip transfers are included. This is a stay for landscapes, quiet and desert-adapted wildlife, rather than frequent big-game sightings.
“Come for Kaokoland’s desert scenery and Himba encounters, then unwind by the infinity pool. The small scale and private terraces suit couples and travellers who value landscapes over a busy wildlife checklist.”
Known for
Clay castles, dunes and Himba cultural encounters share the landscape with giraffes and rarely seen desert-adapted elephants.
