Overview

About Camp Okavango

Camp Okavango sits on Nxaragha Island in the permanent waterways of the Okavango Delta. Its eleven Safari Suites and one two-bedroom Family Suite stand on raised wooden platforms, with private decks looking into the surrounding vegetation. Days centre on motorboat trips, mokoro excursions and guided walks on nearby islands, rather than vehicle game drives. Between outings, guests can use the pool, library and shared lounges. Children aged six and over are welcome, with private activities required for families travelling with children under twelve. A seasonal sleep-out experience is available at an extra charge.

“A water-focused alternative to vehicle safaris, with raised suites, quiet mokoro journeys and guided island walks for travellers who want to explore the Delta at a slower pace.”

Jul

Dry season, best game viewing

Wildlife: Water-based activities (mokoro and motorboat excursions) are at their absolute prime with deep, clear channels, while animals gather in high concentrations on remaining dry land and islands.

Cool, dry winter months with clear skies and minimal rain. Paradoxically, this dry period coincides with the peak floodwaters in the Okavango Delta (water traveling down from the Angolan highlands).
